UNESCO World Heritage Tour for World Heritage Day

FREE tour to the ancient beech forests on the occasion of Austrian World Heritage Day

The Kalkalpen National Park is the most important "forest national park" in the Alps. Since its designation as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, Kalkalpen National Park has been part of a Europe-wide project to protect the last remaining primeval beech forests. These ancient forests with their diversity of habitats are a natural treasure. Primeval forest species such as the alpine longhorn beetle and the white-backed woodpecker find a home here.

The Austrian World Heritage Sites celebrate "Austrian World Heritage Day" every year on April 18. Various events are held on this day to bring World Heritage sites in Austria to life.

Our tour at Reichraminger Hintergebirge takes us along the Buchensteig trail from Anzenbach to Wilden Graben and back. We hike through two types of beech forest found in the national park with their typical flora and fauna.
