Hiking in the UNESCO World Heritage Site
Set off and explore Austria's first and only World Heritage Site!
The seasons set the pace in the beech forest and create a fascinating play of colors throughout the year. The fresh light green when the leaves emerge in spring stands for new beginnings and blossoming. Lush beech green symbolizes the abundance of nature in summer. With their dense canopy, beech forests provide coolness and shade on hot days. Autumn is the time of change: with bright yellow-orange leaves, the beech forest shows its most colorful side in October. In the stillness of winter, when the beech leaves are absent, the shape of the gnarled trees is particularly visible.
