Two bivouac sites are available at Kalkalpen National Park from May to October for overnight stays and camping in the open air.

Spending a night in the middle of the national park is something very special

Spend the night under the stars

The Weißwasser and Steyrsteg bivouac sites are available from May through October (depending on snow conditions) for a small maintenance fee.

Maximum stay: 2 nights
Fee per night: Adults €5 / Children €3
Sleeping spaces:
for approx. 10 two-person tents
Facilities: Fire pit, firewood, restroom, paved sleeping area, no drinking water!

ATTENTION: Forest Fire Prevention Ordinance Now in Effect!

Due to the ongoing drought, forest fire prevention regulations have gone into effect in the districts of Steyr Land and Kirchdorf an der Krems. They will remain in effect until October 31, 2026.

Please note:

Be careful with fire:

Open fire only at the fireplace
Firewood only from the wood storage yard
When leaving the fireplace - extinguish the fire completely
Night rest and fire off from 10 pm to 6 am
Warning! No fires in windy or dry conditions, or when forest fire safety regulations are in effect—see current conditions
No loud noise, no parties
Take your garbage back with you
Do not remove any plants
Keep dogs on a leash
No horses at the campsite
No Fishing
