Kalkalpen National Park by bike

500 kilometers of well-marked and approved mountain bike trails invite you to explore the Kalkalpen National Park region by bike. The tours on offer range from a leisurely tour for beginners on the Hintergebirgsradweg to energy-sapping mountain rides up to mountain huts.

Please note

  • Cycling and mountain biking in the national park area is permitted from April 15 to October 31 from 2 hours after sunrise to 1 hour before sunset.
  • The exception is the Langfirst mountain bike trail, where the bike season does not start until June 1.
  • Cycling and mountain biking is only permitted on marked and designated routes.
  • Some cycle paths are also designated as hiking or bridle paths. Always expect oncoming traffic.
  • Driving on hiking trails and non-designated cycle routes is not permitted and will be reported to the police.

E-biking in the Kalkalpen National Park

All approved cycle and mountain bike trails are also accessible by e-mountain bike. You can obtain the necessary electricity from public charging stations in the surrounding villages or you can treat yourself and your bike to a break and recharge the battery at one of the managed huts and alpine pastures at Kalkalpen National Park .
