Declaration on accessibility
The Nationalpark OÖ Kalkalpen Ges.m.b.H. strives to make its website accessible in accordance with the Web Accessibility Act (WZG) as amended to implement Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of October 26, 2016 on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies (OJ L 327, 2.12.2016, p. 1) .
This accessibility statement applies to the website www.kalkalpen.at.
Status of compatibility with the requirements
This website is partially compliant with conformance level AA of the "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Web - WCAG 2.1" or with the applicable European Standard EN 301 549 V2.1.2 (2018-08) due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions.
The incompatibilities and exceptions are listed below.
Display of the main navigation
The menu bar, which contains the main navigation of this website, can be found as a tab bar at the top of the browser window. In addition to the main navigation, there is a menu symbol at the top right-hand edge which opens a further sub-navigation.
If the menu bar of the main navigation is not automatically opened on smaller screen widths and is therefore not visible, please click on the menu symbol. The interaction bar will then open and you will see the main navigation and sub-navigation.
In addition to the main navigation, there is a breadcrumb navigation at the bottom of the page.
Enlargement of the content display
You can change the size of the displayed pages by using the following key combination:
To enlarge the view: "Ctrl" and "+"
To reduce the view: "Ctrl" and "-"
Mac users press the "Apple/Apple/Command" key instead of "Ctrl".
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is not barrier-free for the following reasons:
a) Incompatibility with the accessibility regulations
Videos: Subtitles are missing for some recorded videos, meaning that the spoken content is not available for deaf users. This means that WCAG success criterion 1.2.2 (subtitles recorded) is not met.
Images: Our images should all have alternative text so that this information is accessible to screen reader users. If you notice an image without alternative text, please let us know immediately.
Forms: It may be that some forms have malfunctions in their readability. If you notice a problem here, please let us know immediately.
Contrast: We have made every effort to design the homepage with high contrast. If the contrast of some elements is not sufficient for you, please let us know.
Links: In some cases, links on the website are only distinguished from the body text by underlining, which is why accessibility restrictions may occur. However, most links are highlighted as a separate button.
Side panel: In some cases, page content links to text passages at the end of the page source text. This content is displayed from the right-hand side when accessed via a standard web browser ("side panel"). This functionality may restrict accessibility.
b) Disproportionate burden
Some of our videos are hosted and published on the video platform YouTube. It is not possible to provide the required audio descriptions for some of these videos. This means that WCAG success criterion 1.2.5 (audio description recorded) is not met. We are of the opinion that remedying this would represent a disproportionate burden in terms of accessibility regulations.
c) The contents do not fall within the scope of the applicable legislation
Content from third parties, such as studies or presentation materials from external speakers that are not within the sphere of influence of Nationalparks Austria, are excluded from Directive (EU) 2016/2102. No statement can be made regarding the compatibility of this third-party content with accessibility regulations.
Many, predominantly older PDF documents and Office documents are not accessible. For example, PDF documents are not tagged, which means that they cannot be read and used by screen reader users, or only to an insufficient extent. This means that WCAG success criterion 4.1.2 (name, role, value) is not fulfilled.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This declaration was prepared on May 21, 2024.
The assessment of the website's compliance with the WZG to implement the requirements of Directive (EU) 2016/2102 was carried out in the form of a self-test in accordance with WCAG 2.1 at conformity level AA in May 2024.
The homepage was completely revised in 2024 and attention was already paid to accessibility during the revision (status at that time: conformity level A of the WCAG 2.0 guideline implemented). Individual page content is regularly checked by the web editorial team when new content is published.

Enforcement proceedings
If you do not receive a satisfactory response from the above contact option, you can submit a complaint to the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The FFG accepts complaints electronically via the contact form: https://www.ffg.at/form/kontaktformular-beschwerdestelle
The complaints are examined by the FFG to determine whether they relate to violations of the provisions of the Web Accessibility Act, in particular deficiencies in compliance with the accessibility requirements, by the federal government or an institution attributable to it.
If the complaint is justified, the FFG must make recommendations for action to the federal government or the legal entities concerned and propose measures to remedy the deficiencies.
Further information on the complaints procedure can be found at: https://www.ffg.at/barrierefreiheit/beschwerdestelle
