Info point Hengstpasshütte
The National Park Hengstpasshütte is located directly at the top of the pass and is an ideal starting point for hikes and bike tours in the Kalkalpen National Park. In winter, the area around the Hengstpass offers numerous opportunities for snowshoe hikes and ski tours.
Opening hours 2025
In May and October
Friday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In June and September
Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In July and August
Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The information point is closed in winter.

Self-catering hut
The high-quality Hengstpasshütte National Park is located directly at the top of the pass at 964 metres above sea level. The Hengstpasshütte can be booked all year round from 2 nights. For public holidays and Zwickeltantage, a minimum stay of 3 nights is provided.
Equipment
- 2 dormitories for 10 people each and 1 twin room = 22 beds.
- Linens provided; Please bring towels + tea towels!
- Sanitary rooms with shower and toilet
- Kitchen including cooking and eating utensils (electricity available, no oven!)
- Cosy parlour with fireplace
- Fire pit in the garden
- Non-smoking cabin!
- Access by car possible

Arrival
By car: From Windischgarsten via Rosenau/Hengstpass on the Hengstpass state road L550 to the top of the pass or from the Enns Valley in the east via Altenmarkt near St. Gallen and Unterlaussa to the top of the pass.
