Kalkalpen National Park Summer program 2024

The return of the forest wilderness evokes different feelings: from a longing for the untouched, the discovery of rare species to fear of the unknown. In order to show interested people the forest wilderness and its shy or hidden inhabitants, Kalkalpen National Park offers exclusive insights into the fascinating natural world.

From mid-April to November, the rangers at Kalkalpen National Park offer 140 fixed tours in the protected area. Ornithological tours, excursions into the World Heritage area, botanical hikes, multi-day wilderness crossings, forest yoga or cave tours are just some of the adventure offers that can be booked. There are also new additions to the 2024 tour program, such as "Immerse yourself in rustic forests", a more challenging tour in the Hintergebirge mountains or the literary hike "In the footsteps of Marlen Haushofer". "The Kalkalpen National Park summer program has never been as varied as it is this year," says Angelika Stückler, Head of Education at Kalkalpen National Park.

"Last year, the rangers guided 647 groups with almost 11,000 people. We were particularly pleased with the visits from many school classes, as 6,400 pupils took part in our nature programs. Imparting knowledge according to the latest findings in nature education, further training and sensitizing visitors to special topics and generating enthusiasm for the protection of biodiversity are hugely important to us," says Dir. DI Josef Forstinger.

The easiest way to register is online at www.kalkalpen.at! The National Park staff at the National Park visitor centers in Reichraming and Windischgarsten are also happy to help. The offers from the summer program can also be booked as individual tours (book a ranger) at any time on request.
