Hartheim Castle was the Nazi dictatorship's first killing center from 1941 to 1944. 30,000 people with mental and physical disabilities were brought here from all over the country, murdered and incinerated. Since 2003, Hartheim Castle has been a place of learning and remembrance for the darkest history of our country and a worthy place of remembrance for the victims of this time.

Human dignity and human rights are the foundation of our free and democratic society today. This applies in particular to the treatment of people with disabilities. At the Hartheim Institute, people with physical and mental disabilities are carefully cared for, looked after and supported in a variety of ways. Talented people can draw and paint in the Kunsthaus and develop their creativity. A total of 50 paintings by artists from Hartheim are shown in the exhibitions. (Lender: Hartheim Institute)
