Our hiking tips for families with children
Hiking with children offers a wonderful opportunity to discover nature and experience little adventures. Children can explore the world around them with curious eyes, observe animals, discover plants and get some exercise in the fresh air. For a relaxed hike with children, it is important to cater to their needs and abilities.
- The walking times given in the hiking suggestions are generally estimated for adults. If you are traveling with children, calculate 50 percent more time for the same distance. In addition, allow time for several short breaks.
- Make sure that the route is not too long. Children often walk twice as far as their parents, because there is a lot to discover along the way - a bit in front or behind.
- Take enough drinking water with you! The fluid requirements of the growing organism are considerably higher than those of adults.
- You should always have sun protection and weatherproof clothing with you.
- Non-slip hiking boots
