In the footsteps of Marlen Haushofer
The virtually unchanged landscape along Marlen Haushofer's route to school invites visitors to experience and learn about the writer's childhood through excerpts from her work. Starting at the church in Frauenstein, we hike with ranger Erni Kirchweger into the Effertsbach Valley to Marlen's birthplace, where Erni now lives with her family.
The yellow forester's lodge by the stream, the mountain meadow as the most beautiful place in the world, create a realm of unique childhood happiness for little Meta. Along the way, we also gain an insight into Marlen's family history and her life as an adult woman.
For those who have developed a taste for Haushofer's writing, here are three book recommendations from Erni: "Being Good Is Hard" (children's book); "Heaven That Ends Nowhere"; "The Wall".
This tour is also suitable for school classes: The educational approach to the author, her world and her works is carried out in a playful way according to the age and the group.
Public transportation: From the bus stop at the Frauenstein junction to the Frauenstein pilgrimage church is 1.8 kilometers along the road, slightly shorter via the hiking trail. Timetable and tickets: www.ooevv.at
