Two mighty red deer woo two hinds

Hirschlos'n - Deer rutting in the National Park

Red deer live freely in the Kalkalpen National Park all year round. Autumn is mating season, when powerful calls echo through the mountain forests at dusk. The stags now seek the proximity of the females and a trial of strength with their rivals ensues. Accompanied by a national park ranger, you can experience the loud natural spectacle of the deer rut.
