Early in the morning, we hike up to the Gamsgebirg' to watch the chamois rutting. Their shiny black winter coats clearly set the chamois apart from the first snow. In late autumn, the bucks have to fight for their place in the herd and win the favor of the females. Any competitors are chased away and hunted through steep rock faces.
