A national park ranger and a ranger show diverse plant growth on deadwood trunks

On the way to the forest wilderness

At Kalkalpen National Park , the forests develop largely without human intervention. A natural diversity of species is established and trees are allowed to grow old again. Decaying trunks provide food and shelter for forest organisms and are an ideal seedbed for young trees. Gain an insight into the exciting development of a primeval forest of tomorrow.
