A national park ranger and a woman with her children are talking on an alpine meadow

From alp to alp

As diverse as the wild forests in the Kalkalpen National Park, so species-rich are the colourful alpine pastures on the Hengstpass, which benefit from the natural mountain world. We hike leisurely across the alpine pasture area at the Hengstpass with a magnificent view of the Kampermauer and Haller Mauern to the Gesäuse. Stations along the nature experience trail give an insight into the nursery of mountain newts and yellow-bellied toads and the variety of valuable small habitats on the alpine pasture.
