UNESCO World Heritage Tour: Through the Hintergebirge mountains
The Kalkalpen National Park is the most important forest national park in the Alps. With its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is part of a Europe-wide project to protect the last remaining beech forests. These ancient forests with their diversity are a natural treasure. Primeval forest species such as the Alpine longhorn beetle and white-backed woodpecker find a home here.
